Gold Exhibit, Regional Museum in Jílové u Prahy
Dazzling Display of Gold, that is what the media called the new exhibit, which we completed – based on our own design (by Architect Jakub Turek) – on the first floor of the institution situated in a town where the precious metal was mined from the Middle Ages up to the 1960s. The new exhibit presents gold from several aspects and will attract not only enthusiasts or history and geology experts but also kids and fans of technology. The respective thematic areas focus on the whole process from mining, through deposits and mines – as well as earlier mining technology – to the use of the metal, jewellery and gold bars included. Visitors enter the exhibit to the sounds of Sir Edward Kelley’s workshop – the alchemist sought to ‘make’ and extract gold in Jílové back in the 16th century – to pass through an imaginary underground adit with examples of gold found worldwide and even the largest gold nugget, move to models of rattling mining machinery, see the Gold Treasure of Podmokly, watch Emperor Charles IV as he moves in the Chapel of St. Cross and enjoy an animated model of the Karlštejn Castle. The effects of illuminated rocks situated in a special chamber offer a surprise, as does one tonne of gold presented as a pyramid of gold bars found in the vault along with jewellery at the end of the exhibit. There is everything for investigative and exploring minds inside, including facts and data, infographics and interactive games, whether digital, printed or three-dimensional. In addition, augmented reality effects complete the exhibit in many places.
