Genetics Exhibition, Mendel Museum Brno

Complex realization of the exhibition based on an own project made by architect Jakub Turek was completed in historical object of an old monastery, where the Mendel Museum is based. The auteur intention, which was significantly influenced by experts from the Museum. was introducing highly scientific theme to the general public through playful form. The exhibition is a combination of mechanical and virtual games, models and impressive graphics. Although its main part is located in relatively narrow area of the cloister corridor, colorful concept and architectural solution optically widens the space. Haptic and interactive elements in three-dimensional, electronic and sound form represent basic genetic building stones also leading the visitor through the theme of heredity from a cell, through DNA and chromozomes, till the discoverers themselves. These are present in the exhibiton almost in live size and two-dimensional form. Main theme of the presentation is J. G. Mendel himself and his research. Part of the exhibition complex is also a small room of Nobel laureates including their electronic databases and a science laboratory with examples of laboratory equipment, devices and thematical game.
